Autumn Unwind -
Extended Yin Yoga Class

Sun 17 Oct 17.00-18.30
Online & Recording Available

Taking our cue from seasonal changes, this yin yoga workshop encourages us to slow down, turn inwards, and become more introspective.

A nourishing sequence of longer, passive poses will nurture and unravel the whole body, releasing any tension, stress and rigidity accrued in daily life. As you surrender deeper into each pose, the focus comes to settle on stillness of breath, body and mind: yielding into sensation whilst cultivating the time and space to really rest and replenish. Guided breathing and meditation techniques will centre and ground the mind, activating the soothing parasympathetic nervous system to leave you feeling spacious, calm and full of ease.

Suitable for all levels, there will be plenty of props for support and modifications for those recovering from injury.

Mandala Flow to Restore

In this special extended practice we will root ourselves right down into the earth, taking delight in a little dance of give and take with the ground, and anchoring our awareness in that steady sense of connection and support as we flow in spiralling motion around the mat. Galvanising a sense of stability and security, there will be opportunity to play towards upside down, whilst the grounding nature of the sequence explores the body’s full range of motion, unravelling physical tension and cultivating steadiness, space and strength. The class will close by surrendering into the support of the floor and props for soothing restorative and yin releases and blissful relaxation.

Mandala Flow to Restore

This extended practice begins with a soothing spiralling flow around the mat, enjoying the capacity for lubricating movement to bring our awareness back into the body and, with an attitude of gentle curiosity, explore and nourish what we encounter there. Unsticking and unravelling tension, the emphasis of this class always rests on the moments of transition and breath in-between the poses, moving from the inside out, rather than overly straining or pushing ourselves into any particular shape or position. As the flow softens into the stillness of restorative and yin releases, the waves and ripples of the practice begin to settle, and you can yield and rest in that vast, deep inner world of experience, full of ease, something shifted.
